2020 Toyota C-HR gets hybrid tech, entry-level model priced at $29,540
Taking the tally of its hybrid vehicles down under to 8, Toyota has introduced the all-new 2020 C-HR. The compact crossover has arrived flaunting some updates concerning its appearance alongside some revisions in the cabin as well. Nonetheless, the centre of attraction remains to be the all-new hybrid variant which makes the new C-HR join the hybrid fleet that comprises the Toyota Camry, Corolla, RAV4, and others.
The changes on the outside of the Toyota C-HR include revamped LED tail lights, brand-new front bumper, and updated LED headlights among others. Moving inside, we find the compact crossover now sporting a new & larger 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, AM/FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, satellite navigation with SUNA live traffic, six-speakers, and inbuilt voice recognition. With the changes stated, the standard equipment across the lineup incorporates tilt & telescopic adjustable leather-wrapped steering wheel, cloth-trimmed sports seats, self-dimming rearview mirror, heated power-folding ORVMs, automatic LED headlamps, electronic parking brake, dual-zone climate control, and rain-sensing wipers.
While the low-end models ride on 17-inch alloy wheels, the high-spec trims, on the other hand, get a set of 18-inch alloy wheels. In case you get yourself the C-HR Koba, the compact crossover also gets keyless entry & start, stylish upholstery with leather accents, and heated front seats, electric lumbar support for the driver's seat, and a panoramic view camera. Power on all of the petrol-only models of the 2020 Toyota C-HR is generated by a 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 115 hp of maximum power and a peak torque of 185 Nm. Toyota claims that while the 2WD variants will consume 6.4L/100km, the AWD models will require 6.5L/100km.
Price for the C-HR two-wheel-drive with CVT starts at $29,540 (without on-road costs). You can have the all-wheel-drive system for an additional $2,000. Moving on, it is the Koba 2WD hybrid CVT that is the newest addition to the lineup. Powering the hybrid variant is the same 1.8-litre unit that we have previously seen on the Corolla Hybrid. This mill generates 97 hp of maximum power alongside a peak torque of 142 Nm. Working in tandem with the petrol-fed mill is an electric motor capable of churning out 122 hp. Toyota has claimed a fuel economy of 4.3L/100km.
