Honda HR-V

Unlike the unchanged exterior, this year, Honda has done some amazing job in improving the interior quality of the HR-V. Now, it is insulated with the high-quality sound cancellation material and active noise cancellation, that keeps the cabin quieter. It’s one of the best SUV in its class that offers great cargo and passenger space. You’ll get 437 liters of luggage capacity, while with rear magic seats folded it extends to 1462 liters.

Overall, the interior is nicely designed, it is highlighted by double-stitched leather seats. For the convenience of passengers, HR-V offers lots of storage areas. However, the infotainment system is old school, it’s quite slower with unpleasant design. But, you’ll get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to get started with music using your device. Honda has extended the smartphone support to the gauge cluster and you can see the navigation right on the dashboard.

The exterior design is well shaped, it reflects the wide stance of this compact SUV. Although, dimensionally it’s the same HR-V as of the previous year. There are minor changes to its exterior design. Like, new grille, headlight, and taillight, plus a brand-new front bumper design. Apart from these changes, there’s nothing new in this facelifted model. The newly added RS grade looks slightly longer and wider due to the body-kit. To be precise, it’s 12mm longer and 18mm wider. While the wheelbase of 2610mm and ground clearance of 170mm is the same as of other grades. RS also comes with bigger 18-inch wheels and dark shaded chrome styling highlights.

HR-V is one of the most enjoyable subcompact SUV in terms of ride quality. It offers flexible ride even on the harsh road conditions. And, with the direct electric steering with the variable gear ratio, you’ll get better control on the wheels. However, due to the firm suspension, ride quality degrades a little. 

In terms of the engine and performance, this super-compact SUV is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired to a continuous variable transmission. This engine can produce a maximum power of 105kW at 6500rpm, and maximum torque of 127 lb-ft of 172Nm at 4300rpm.

However, with the lack of manual transmission in this year’s HR-V. You will feel a lack of immediate speed boost too. And with CVT, it’s advised to patiently wait for the speed to build up. So, that you can maintain good mileage, and get fewer engine noise in the cabin.

The braking capacity of this compact SUV is also impressing, it acts balanced and fast on odd roads. Moreover, every grade of HR-V is equipped with Honda safety suite, that has ultimately resulted in improved crash scores.

Going by its diminutive size, HR-V offers best in class passenger space and cargo capacity. Also, it’s one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its class, and while driving in city conditions you’ll get a mileage of 8.5l/100km. Whereas in highway conditions, you’ll get a mileage of 5.6l/100km. Overall the combined Fuel consumption of HR-V is 6.6l/100km.
