Launched in the 70s as a tiny car that you can drive literally everywhere, Jimny has a bit of cult following with it. If you are planning to get yourself a car that can do heavy duty offroading within a budget, then Jimny is your thing. Suzuki claims that there are places in the world where only Jimny can go. It can overcome muddy pits and maneuver through dense woods, capture massive rocks with ease and tackle the hardest weather and terrain. It is a vehicle that provokes you to take control to head off-road and go beyond your comfort zone.
In terms of variants, there are two to choose from. You can either have a manual or an automatic. The exterior design is very attractive despite being boxy. It gets iconic round LED headlights that come along with washers to wipe away the muds and provide better visibility in low lighting conditions. This car features angled bumper edges that enhance margin at the wheels for secure climbing over obstacles. It gets drip rail that will ensure your head is always dry.
Interior-wise, everything feels solid and reasonably good for the quality. The layout is simple so everything is easy to use and the big windows give you a decent view out in all directions. However, the steering wheel does not adjust for reach. The space inside the cabin is pretty tight for anyone to sit in the back. There is barely any boot space with the rear seats in place. The boot is a lot bigger when you fold the rear seat down providing 300L of space. The new Jimny gets a lot more standard features like a 7 inches touchscreen with Apple Carplay, Android auto, and you also get a reversing camera. Even satellite navigation is standard with climate control, cruize control, and hill descent control. Talking about the practical storage, there are no door pockets but you do get cup holders inside the cabin.
Jimny features a 1.5L petrol engine putting out a maximum power of 101 hp, which will be perky enough for most buyers. It only has five gears, so the engine is a bit rowdy at motorway speeds and the thrashy noise that the engine gives off is more reminiscent of a three-cylinder engine rather than the four. It gets a low range transfer gearbox that unlocks all the off-road ability of Jimny. The ladder frame chassis gives it real-world ruggedness plus there is a lot of ground clearance. The suspension is three lengths rigid axle and is tailor-made for hardcore butch bashing.
Unlike other off-roaders, Jimmy gets plenty of safety features. When the vehicle is moving, the two sensors determine if there is a risk of collision with a forward vehicle or pedestrian and applies brakes automatically. It also features a lane departure warning that helps you to stay on the path all the time. Other safety features include airbags, traffic sign recognition, and high beam assist.
