Toyota Yaris

Toyota has reintroduced its five-door hatchback, the newly launched Yaris appears similar as of the previous year model. It’s a perfect car for city rides, it offers affordable mileage, attractive exteriors, comfortable interiors at a very reasonable price. However, Yaris 2019 doesn’t come with significant upgrades, and you’ll see some minor tweaks up in the front and rear of the car. Like, in the back, Toyota has revised the styling and now the taillights come integrated with the back-up lights. In addition to the re-positioning of the back-up lights, this years Yaris also comes loaded with the rear-view camera, that’s standard among all the grades.

Yaris is available in three trims Ascent, SX, and ZR. The base variant is powered by 1.3L VVT-I petrol engine. This engine can produce a maximum power of 65kw at 6,000rpm and torque of 120Nm at 4,000rpm. And, the top two trims SX and ZR are powered by 1.5L VT-I petrol engine. It can generate a maximum power of 80kw at 6,000rpm and torque of 141Nm at 4,400rpm. Yaris comes in both automatic and manual transmission systems. The 4-speed automatic transmission is available across the range, whereas 5-speed manual transmission can only be equipped with Ascent and SX.

Yaris exteriors are loaded with the stylish and compact design that’s complemented by front fog lamps, Bi-LED headlamps with auto-leveling function, body-colored electric and heated door mirrors, rear spoiler, body-colored door handles and 15-inch wheels.

This hatchback might look small from outside, but its interior is compactly designed, that allows sufficient cabin space for passengers. Yaris offers genuine legroom and headroom, separate lower and upper glovebox compartments, adjustable front passenger seats and full-width rear passenger seats that can be folded to maximize the cargo space. Moreover, considering the hatchback size of Toyota Yaris, it offers you the cargo capacity of 286 liters, and with rear seats wrapped cargo space expands up to 768 liters, which is quite impressive.

In terms of multimedia and infotainment, it comes equipped with 6.1" colour touchscreen, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, AUX audio input for portable audio players, 6 speakers and satellite navigation with SUNA traffic channel.

When it comes to the safety and security of passengers, Yaris stands high. It’s equipped with a reversing camera and 7 SRS airbags. Furthermore, you’ll also appreciate the driver assistance tools like, Anti-lock Braking system that works in synchrony with Electronic Brake-force Distribution. ABS and EBD help to prevent skidding that happens while a wheel gets locked up. At the same time, EBD maximizes the braking efficiency by transferring the brake force to the wheel(s) that need it most. Moreover, in case of fatigue or inattention, the lane departure system warns and alerts you when the vehicle drifts away from the current lane. And, when a vehicle moving in front of you unexpectedly applies sudden brakes, then the auto-braking system will warn you by sending alerts and apply the brakes automatically, in case of inaction. 

Overall Yaris is a balanced hatchback, it offers ample power, genuine mileage, and reliable safety features that always look out for you. However, Toyota hasn’t refreshed the dated design of Yaris from years. Moreover, when it comes to the handling of this car it feels sensitive and responsive, but while turning corners, you’ll feel the lack of connection with the road. Also, while driving on rural roads, you’ll feel jumpiness due to the shoddy suspension system. And, with the low-quality of cabin sound cancellation material, you’ll hear a lot of engine noise into the cabin.
