Kia Rio

Kia Rio is a 5-door hatchback car that is available in three trims S, Sport and GT-Line. The base variant of Rio is offered in 6-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission system, that runs coupled with 1.4L MPI petrol engine. It’s a reliable, economical and robust engine that can produce a maximum power of 74 kw at 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 133 Nm at 4,000rpm. Just like it, the mid-variant of Rio is offered in 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission system, that produces the same power and torque as of the base model. Whereas, the top variant of Rio, GT-Line comes with 7-speed dual-clutch transmission mode, and it is powered by the 1.0L turbo GDI petrol engine that’s designed to meet the expectations of the speedsters. And, this engine can produce a maximum power of 88kw at 6,300rpm and torque of 173Nm at 1,500 rpm-4,000rpm. 

The driveaway prices of Kia Rio starts from $16,990 for the S model manual variant, $19,090 for the S model automatic variant, $17,790 for the Sport model manual variant, $20,090 for the Sport model automatic variant, and $23,090 for the GT-Line automatic variant.

Kia Rio offers many standard exterior features, such as high-mounted rear stop lights, halogen DRL (S and Sport), LED DRL (GT-Line), body-coloured bumpers, body-coloured door handles, body-coloured electric outside mirrors, rear spoiler, front and rear 2-speed aero blade wipers, and washers. In addition to these features, with GT-Line model you’ll also get rear door privacy glass, GT-Line package, windscreen, and front door solar glass, mirror integrated indicators, heated and electric folding outside door mirrors. 

With the slight variation in the exterior features of Rio, the interior features also vary along with the various trims. But, Kia has kept a number of features standard, such as ambient temperature display, front and rear power window including driver’s window auto up/down with safety function, rear window defroster with timer, front map lights, interior light with delay out function, 2X12 V power outlet in the front console and 2X USB charging points in the front and rear, manual air-conditioning. 

And, in terms of infotainment and connectivity, you’ll get standard 7-inch LCD touchscreen with MP3 compatible audio player, 6 speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Along with this, you’ll get steering-wheel-mounted buttons to access the audio controls without getting hands off the wheels. 

Just like the exteriors and interiors of Rio, it comes with essential active and passive safety features. And, from the base variant, you’ll get ABS, EBD, BA, ESC, VSM, HAC, reverse parking system, day/night rearview mirror, dusk-sensing automatic lights, speed sensing auto door lock, rear-view camera, reverse parking sensors, 3-point ELR seatbelts on all positions. 

Moreover, in terms of passive security features, you’ll get standard driver, passenger, front, and side airbags impact sensing auto door unlocking system, remote central locking with keyless entry and boot release. In addition to these, GT-Line comes with LKA (lane-keeping assist), autonomous emergency braking with a front collision warning system, and driver attention alert system that sends the warning signals in case a driver loses attention. 

Kia Rio is a comfortable yet stylish and performance hatchback that is available in three trims with the different powertrain and transmission systems. This hatchback comes with electric power steering, has a minimum turning radius of 10.2m. In the base variant, you’ll get 15-inch steel wheels. Whereas in the mid and top trim you’ll get 17-inch alloy wheels that come fitted with 256mm ventilated front disc brakes are standard in the base and mid variant, whereas the top variant comes with the 280mm ventilated front disc brakes. Moreover, the 262mm solid rear disc brakes are standard among all the three trims.
