Alfa Romeo 4C Coupe

The lightweight aluminium four-cylinder 1750 cc turbocharged engine is the driving force behind the true spirit of 4C Coupe. It’s located at the rear and is paired with rear-wheel drive configuration. The engine of Alfa 4C also features high-end tech like ultra-high pressure direct fuel injection, Scavenging technology, and continuously variable valve timing units that make it more efficient and powerful. To ensure the seamless delivery of power to the rear wheels, the 1.7L engine is paired with the Alfa 6-speed twin-clutch transmission. The TCT used in 4C Coupe helps in eliminating the power discontinuity.

As a result, for the engine of this size, the power and torque delivery is commendable. 1.7L engine can produce 177 kW at 6,000 rpm of unprecedented power and torque of 350 Nm at 2,200–4,250 rpm at its highest peak. With this potential, you can get from 0–100 km/hr in 4.5 seconds, and can attain a maximum speed of 258 km/hr.

Alfa 4C Coupe features high-performance braking configuration. In the front wheels, dual-cast perforated self-ventilated disc brake with 4-piston Brembo calipers are furnished. And, in the rear wheels, perforated self ventilated disc brakes are provided. The combination of both brakes ensures that this coupe can halt from 100 km/hr to 0 km/hr in just under 40 meters. Further, Alfa 4C Coupe comes with the ASR system that monitors the loss of grip and optimises the engine power accordingly and prevents this coupe from skidding. On the safety front, 4C Coupe lacks driving assistance and many active safety features that you expect in 2020. Instead, you’ll only get some of the basic features like Anti-lock Braking System, Hill Hold, Electronic Stability Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Cruise Control, driver and passenger airbags. 

Alfa Romeo has applied real-world dynamics to the 4C Coupe. It is mostly made up of lightweight carbon fibre and aluminium. The engine is placed in the rear and offers dramatic performance and precise handling. While the sports tuned suspension ensures decent ride comfort without any compromises. However, there are a few things that degrade the overall experience of the 4C Coupe. Like, it’s designed to be high of performance, but the same can’t be seen while driving it. Also, the twin-clutch transmission isn’t well-refined that often downgrade the performance of the 4C Coupe.
