Toyota offers Apple CarPlay retrofit for selected models, costs $199

Here is something new for the Toyota car owners, the brand has come up with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto retrofit program for its new-gen model range. Along with this, Toyota also announced the standard fitment of the smartphone mirroring system for these models.

The customers who owned Camry, Corolla, Granvia, Hiace, Prius, and RAV4 can now have the latest infotainment systems for their vehicles. If we talk about the pricing of the tech upgrade, the firm is charging $199 from Camry, Corolla, and Prius customers and providing it for free to Granvia, Hiace, and RAV4 owners.

As we know, Toyota will roll out two new models by the end of this year, namely, Toyota C-HR facelifted and new Corolla sedan. These two models will be getting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as a standard appointment.

In this context, Sean Hanley, vice president for sales and marketing at Toyota Australia said, "By offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility in our vehicles, we are continuing to refine our market offerings and provide our customers with the products and services that enhance their lives.”

He further added that the technology will allow customers to stay informed, entertained and in touch with the wider world from behind the wheel, directly through the vehicles.

Following this, some other firms are also planning to add this feature to their existing models. For instance, the Japanese carmaker Mazda rolled out the scheme to add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto feature in all the vehicles. It will be fitted with MZD Connect infotainment systems and cost $495 to the customers. The firm clarifies that the price includes the hub module and hardware upgrades.

Speaking about the luxury segment of Toyota, the same kind of retrofit program will be announced soon for Lexus also. However, upcoming facelifted RX crossover and ES F-Sport sedan are already equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
