Subaru WRX STI EJ20 Final Edition revealed
Among the astonishing previews happening at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, Subaru also marked its presence with two official debuts- Subaru WRX STI EJ20 Final Edition and second-gen Subaru Levorg prototype.
For the last 30 decades, Subaru has used 2.0-litre EJ20 flat-four turbo engine in one or the other way and now with the WRX STI final edition, the firm bid farewell to it. The engine first appeared in 1989 with Subaru Legacy. For WRX STI, the engine is tuned to produce 308 PS of power and 422 Nm of torque. The power is sent to all four wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.
Besides the 30-year run engine, the EJ20 Final Edition incorporates unique badging, 19-inch gold BBS wheels backed by Brembo brakes, front six-piston calipers, and two-pot units at the rear. To add more styling bits to the model, the grille and rear bumper received Cherry Red highlights. If we see the cabin upgrades, then we can find Recaro front seats wrapped with leather and faux suede. Other styling appointments include:
- Fake suede for the steering wheel
- Black wing mirrors
- A large rear spoiler
- Silver seatbelts and silver stitching all around
Along with the revised design, Subaru also added a generous amount of safety equipment. The model production is limited up to 555 units and will be allotted through the lottery system as we have seen in the case of Japan-only STI S208 of 2017. The EJ20 Final Edition price starts at ¥4,110,000 ($55,400). The order books of the model will be closed on 23rd December.
About the next-gen WRX, it is expected to be revealed before the end of 2020. The above mentioned second-gen Levorg wagon is powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged engine and will be available for sale next year. Stay tuned to Zigwheels Australia for more such updates.
