Subaru XV Review 2024
XV is Subaru’s best-selling car in the year 2018 in Australia. It’s a raise up version of Impreza and shares the same powertrain, but displays a new class of features, design, and comfort. However, in many terms, XV is a better option than Impreza, it’s longer, wider, and performs well on rough roads. This SUV makes good use of Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel-drive. In fact, this drive system provides XV much better off-roading capabilities than many of its rivals.
In 2019, Subaru has updated its compact SUV XV to a great extent, and it looks pretty much new when compared with the last year model. Now, it’s longer and wider and features some much-needed cosmetic changes around the grille, headlights, and interiors. Moreover, apart from the cosmetics, this year’s XV is built on the all-new Subaru Global Platform (SGP). This frame provides you with amazing stability, a more fluid ride, more active control, and an even quieter cabin. In addition, it’s also re-designed to properly route the crash energy away from the cabin and passengers.

Subaru XV Interior & Features
With less fancy bits added to its exteriors, the interiors of XV are well equipped with decent material, comfortable seats, and upgraded gadgets. Though the interior graphics of XV are dated, they don’t append a spark in the eyes as you enter. But with the extra height, it gets easy to get in and out of it. Overall, its a comfortable SUV for short city rides, long road trips, added with the CVT, same goes right with the driver’s comfort.
XV Exterior
Subaru offers this SUV in nine paint schemes, it’s available in Crystal White, Dark Blue, Quartz Blue, Dark Grey, Cool Grey, Ice Silver, Sunshine Orange, Pure Red, and Crystal Black.
XV by exteriors holds the energy of a fun looking car. It doesn’t wear aggressive and wild looks, apparently, Subaru has kept it for family rides. But, with less fancy bits, it adds positive and natural value to the exterior expressions of the car. Top grade rides on 18" alloy wheels, whereas rest of the XV’s are equipped with 17" alloy wheels.
Though this SUV might not sound like a mature one. But it does come with the smart exterior features like, steering responsive headlights that respond excellently to the direction of the wheel. And self-levelling LED headlights that project high beam when there’s no vehicle coming in front, with auto-off dusk-sensing function.
Subaru XV Ride & Handling
Subaru’s well-made SUV, XV is based on its newly introduced global architecture. Means, its handling is improved and along with the enhancements in the suspension. It comes with electric power-assisted steering and offers good handling, that totally matches with the car of this ground clearance. Going by the size of this car, the minimum turning circle of 10.8m is surely appreciatable and acceptable. Overall, even with the improved bits, XV doesn’t offer a satisfying ride. Talking of the off-road capabilities, the X-Drive system offers good support but at low and medium speeds. With a less powerful engine, it gets frustrating to go fast while adventuring off-roading.
XV Engine & Fuel Consumption
It’s available in four grades 2.0i, 2.0i-L, 2.0i-Premium and 2.0i-S, all of them are powered by the same 2.0L 4-cylinder Boxer engine mated with Lineartronic Continuous Variable Transmission. This engine can generate a maximum power of 115kW at 6,000rpm and torque of 196Nm at 4,000rpm. Going by the numbers, XV is a moderate SUV that gives ample power and fuel-efficient ride. It has a combined mileage of 7l/100km, and when you compared these numbers in a same-priced car, getting this number is not possible.
Subaru XV Braking & Safety
Subaru has been well known for making safe passengers cars. With the innovation of Eyesight suite, XV gets two more eyes that always look out for you. It recognizes the movement of vehicles moving in front and works accordingly to safeguard you. Along with this, this suite gives you adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, brake light recognition, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane sway warning, and many other safety features. To ensure the overall protection of the XV’s passengers. Apart from this, XV is equipped with four-channel four-sensor Antilock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution. And, ventilated disc brakes at the front and rear tyres.
XV Verdict
This SUV is surely much better than many of its rivals, in terms of space, comfort, exterior design, and fuel consumption. It’s built on the newly introduced Subaru Global Platform that ensures improved stability, amazing ride, and handling controls.
But, XV is downed by Subaru’s 2.0L Boxer petrol engine, that’s not much powerful for carrying forward extreme off-road adventures. And, you’ll surely feel the lack of power while pushing for more throttle. Also, with a single fuel and transmission option, it’s well suited for only hardcore Subaru fans.
