Nissan recalled 6000 Pathfinder cars due to fire hazard concern
Nissan Motor Company is recalling 450,000 vehicles globally over the concern about brake fluid that may leak into internal circuit boards and cause a fire. The big recall includes more than 6000 Pathfinder sports utility vehicles in Australia across the petrol and hybrid range.
The company officials explain the problem as the faulty oil seal presented in ABS can cause leakage of brake fluid, which may further lead to an electrical short circuit. If the driver finds the ABS warning light illuminated for more than ten seconds, then it is advisable to come out of the car and take it to the nearest dealer for inspection. However, no report of the fire has been registered in the country till date.
The firm says, "Nissan is committed to the safety, security, and satisfaction of our customers and their passengers. It is conducting a Voluntary Safety Recall Campaign on certain MY2016 -2018 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles to replace the Antilock Braking System (ABS) actuator. Once parts availability is confirmed, owners will receive a notification letter asking them to bring their vehicle to an authorized Nissan dealer to have the remedy work completed at no cost for parts or labor."
Speaking of the Nissan Pathfinder specs, it is powered by a 3.5-litre petrol V6 mill paired with a CVT producing 274 PS of power and 340 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a switchable all-wheel-drive system. It is loaded with several active safety and convenience features including autonomous emergency braking, a 360-degree surround-view monitor, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring. Nissan Pathfinder price starts from $66,390 before on-road costs.
