Mazda 3 along with Jeep and Dodge recalled in Australia over safety concerns

Thousands of Mazda 3 vehicles are being recalled over the fear of manufacturing defect that could see the wheels fall off on some of its recent models. A total of 3,323 cars sold between 8 April and 21 June 2019 have been affected. Drivers or owners of the car can check their vehicle on the company’s site using the vehicle identification number that can be found on the user manual. Notably, the repair will be done without any extra costs.

According to Mazda, a small gap has been left between the studs and hub assembly during the installation of the wheels. It states “A small gap may exist between the wheel studs and the hub assembly. Continued use of the vehicle may cause the wheel nuts to loosen a knocking or clunking noise.” The company has also added that the stability of the vehicle might be affected, which could result in an increased loss of vehicle control.

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has also made recall for older Jeep and Dodge cars manufactured between 2007 and 2010, which seems to have manufacturing defects that include windshield falling off and brakes failure. Affected vehicles are Jeep Cherokee manufactured between 2008 and 2010, Jeep Compass and Dodge Caliber manufactured in 2007, Dodge Nitro manufactured between 2007 and 2009, and Dodge RAM of 2010.

The Jeep Cherokee 2010 model is said to have brake pedal linkage clip, which might be incorrectly manufactured. This fault has affected 55 vehicles while 20 vehicles are said to have an issue in which “length of the rear wheel hub mounting bolts may prevent the usage of the parking brake”. The Jeep Cherokee 2008 model has a fault with the windshield or quarter glass, which might have been installed on incorrect urethane adhesive. This issue has affected 12 vehicles.
