Mazda 2 facelift unveiled in Japan, local launch in Q1 of 2020

New Mazda 2 facelift has been revealed for its home market Japan. It will enter the shores by the first quarter of 2020. As per the company, the cabin quietness, handling stability and ride feel are enhanced. 

The car, which was previously called as ‘Demio’, has been renamed to Mazda 2. A new badge to "emphasise the brand" has been given to the revised five-door light hatch along with updates on the visual and tactile quality in the craftsmanship and designing areas.

The key elements that separate the revised hatch from the outgoing model are its revamped front fascia along with the bumper treatments. The latter is inspired by other models such as Mazda 6 and CX-5.

In terms of outfit, the alloy-wheel design has been revised, which does not get a high gloss finish. The car also comes with adaptive LED headlights and a new LED daytime running light signature. The headlights now feature 20 individually controlled LED blocks, which enhance the visibility and boosts illumination.

Getting inside to the car, there are new materials that help to maintain a subtle balance between the quality and the playfulness, which can be best deciphered from the suede combination and the blue leather. The driver’s seat is six-way power adjustable and there is also an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. The car also comes with an updated version of the MZD Connect infotainment system that has built-in Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.

The new Mazda 2 features a plethora of active safety technologies and the carmaker’s latest driver assistance as well. It has lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control with stop and go function. The coaster also arms G-Vectoring Control Plus system that helps to maintain stability at high speeds.

However, the pricing and the other specifications have not been released yet. It will be revealed as we proceed closer to the launch.
