Kia Stinger Carbon Edition pricing and specs revealed

Kia Stinger Carbon Edition pricing and specs revealed

To give some extra wow factor to its standard Stinger, Kia has come up with an all-new Carbon Edition. The new version is a limited-run production model which adds extra designing trims to the sporty sedan.

Kia Stinger front

Kia has used lightweight carbon fibre to adorn new Stinger with stylish elements including grille surround, hood vents, side vents, side mirrors, wing mirrors, and rear diffuser-style insert. Not only this, the car is painted with Neon Orange to complete the unique look.

If we look inside the cabin, no carbon fibre finishings can be found, the only changed element is steering wheel which is now trimmed in Alcantara.

Kia Stingerside

Moving to the mechanical bits, the Kia Stinger Carbon Edition engine bay is powered by the same engine unit as the standard model. The 3.3-litre V6 twin-turbo paired with an eight-speed torque converter churns out 370 PS of power and 510 Nm of torque. But we can see the carbon finishing on the transmission tunnel.

The new Carbon-look Stinger is now available in Australia with a price tag of $67,990 drive-away, which means $4000 more than the top-spec Stinger GT.

Kia Stinger side

Kia dealers including Queensland, the Northern Territory, and Western Australia added the big liftback in their portfolios. The sales figures of Stinger shows a YTD drop of 7.4%. Though the model appears as an image builder still the automaker is not clear about the making of its next-generation version.

During an interview in Frankfurt, Gregory Guillaume, vice president and senior chief designer of Kia’s styling studio in Germany said, “At the moment I’m not sure it’s doing as good as we hoped. We never really expected to do massive volumes. It was a halo car. We did want to be successful at least in America, the market where we thought there is a chance that it works. We had very high expectations for that market and it’s very difficult to start in such segments”.
