2021 Hyundai Tucson spied, seems to be more handsome than before
Hyundai is on the go in upgrading its portfolio and introducing newer and updated models for the masses around the world. And, the SUV segment is one where the South Korean automaker is making some big strides. While Sangyup Lee, Hyundai’s vice president has already cited that the 2021 Tucson will be an SUV that will come sporting an exhilarating appearance, and may even beat the all-new 2020 Sonata in a fashion show. With that to be seen with time, a new set of spy-shots of the upgraded SUV have started floating over the internet following the earlier photographs. And, while the all-new Tucson in the latest spy-shots is still wearing camouflage, the cover is not as heavy as it was in the previous snaps.
Even though the new Tucson is said to feature a heavily revamped design language, the beltline, D-pillar, and the overall profile of the SUV is still reminiscent of the outgoing model. The SUV has taken styling cues from the Nexo hydrogen fuel-cell crossover as the outside of the SUV now includes a brand-new grille along with split headlights. Moving to the rear end of the SUV, speculations suggested that the 2020 Sonata’s full-width light bar should make its way to the new Tucson. The spy-shots, however, do not reveal much as the SUV in the shots doesn't have its taillamp assembly inboard.
Mechanical information available about the refreshed Tucson reveals that the SUV may come housing the 2020 Sonata's 2.0 four-cylinder hybrid powertrain that generates 194 hp of maximum power. With this new powertrain onboard, the fourth-generation Tucson will be powered by a hybrid system for the first time. Also, the newest iteration of the Hyundai Tucson will vaunt a third-row in markets like India. In case the three-row Tucson lands on the Australian shores, it will lock horns with the likes of the Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan X-Trail, Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, and Honda CR-V. Once the new model arrives in the latter part of 2020 or early 2021, the automaker will try hard to clinch on to high sales figures in the USA, where Tucson's rivals like Mitsubishi Outlander, Volkswagen Tiguan, Kia Sportage, and GMC Terrain have had an upper hand in recent times.
Speaking of the Australian market, the South-Korean SUV has done fairly well in the past as it was the fourth-best selling model in the segment after Mazda CX-5, Nissan X-Trail, and Toyota RAV4. Interestingly enough, while Hyundai has stated that it is tough to give the Toyota hybrid prices a fight, the automaker might just make an exception for the Tucson to take on the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.
