2020 Toyota Fortuner price and specs revealed

Toyota Australia has announced the price and specifications of all-new Toyota Fortuner, including autonomous emergency braking as standard.

2020 Toyota Fortuner  variants will be now getting following safety features as standard:

    • Autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection (daytime only)
    • Adaptive cruise control
    • Lane-keeping assist 
    • Speed sign recognition 

The seven-seater Fortuner based on the Hilux platform is competing with Ford Everest, Isuzu MU-X, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, and Holden Trailblazer.

Ford and Mitsubishi are already providing the aforementioned safety features in their ute-based family vehicles, and now the Toyota Fortuner is also added to the list. Toyota’s move puts pressure on other competitors like Holden and Isuzu in the segment for providing such safety specs. 

The newly added safety specs led the price to increase, the base variant Fortuner GX price marked at $45,965 plus on-road costs (+$1375), the Fortuner GXL price stands at $50,790 plus on-roads (+$800), and the top of the spec Fortuner Crusade price starts from $58,290 plus on-road costs (+$1300).

The Toyota Fortuner engine bay gets a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel unit mated with a six-speed automatic transmission producing 176 PS of power and 450 Nm of torque.

The base and mid-spec variant now comes with a 4.2-inch color screen in the instrument binnacle. The other Fortuner GX specs include:

      • Fabric trim
      • Projector headlights
      • LED tail-lights
      • Bluetooth
      • Six-speaker sound system
      • Air-conditioned cool-box

Besides above, the Fortuner GXL specs comprises of:

      • Satellite navigation 
      • DAB digital radio 
      • Keyless entry 
      • Fog lights, 
      • Privacy glass
      • Hill-descent control

Moving to the top of the range, Fortuner Crusade specs include:

      • 11-speaker JBL audio system
      • Heated and power-adjustable front seats
      • LED fog lights
      • Climate control
      • Bi-LED headlights
      • 18-inch alloy wheels
      • Full-size spare wheel
      • Extra 220V socket

The Toyota has sold 2363 units of Fortuner in the year so far and as compared to the previous year, it is down 11.1 percent.

      • GX - $45,965 (+$1375)
      • GXL - $50,790 (+$800)
      • Crusade - $58,290 (+$1300)
