2020 Mitsubishi Mirage unveiled

To check the dominance of Kia Picanto in Australia’s micro-car segment, Mitsubishi is all set to roll out the updated version of Mirage hatch. Since the launch, this is the second time when the model gets a revision. The new Mirage comes with a sharper exterior design and the latest technology upgrades on the interior front.

On the exterior, the new Mitsubishi Mirage incorporates the brand's ‘Dynamic Shield’ front design language, angular headlamps, a bulky bumper and LED combination lamps at each end. Not only this, but the buyers will also get the redesigned 15-inch alloy wheels and a new range of exterior color options.

Inside the cabin, the most significant update is the replacement of the 2-DIN audio sound system by a new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity options. Other small changes are more comfort front armrests, cloth finishers, and a carbon fibre pattern for the cluster and window switch panels. Synthetic leather seat upholstery is also added to the top-spec variants.

Speaking about the Mirage engine specs, it seems to have the same 1.2-litre petrol mill producing 77 PS of power and 100 Nm of torque. Further, it is also expected to remain with hatchback body style only, as the firm has already dropped the sedan model in 2016. The ongoing Mirage price starts at $15,490 drive-away, but likely to be changed for the 2020 model year.

If we talk about the sales numbers of the micro car segment in the country, it accounts for just 0.7 percent of the total cars sold so far in the year. The segment mainly comprises of Mirage, Picanto, and Fiat 500. Mitsubishi managed to sell only 500 Mirage this year, Fiat sold 648 units and Kia sold 4788 units of Picanto. This clearly depicts that Picanto holds 81 percent market share.
