2020 Hyundai Tucson facelift unveiled for China

Hyundai China has recently unveiled a new version of Tucson with different styling and appointments in comparison to the SUV offered in the international market.

The facelifted Beijing Hyundai Tucson is considered as the fourth-generation model of the car by the Korean-Chinese JV, however, in actual fact, the model is just a reskinned form of the ongoing model.

Hyundai Tucson FrontIt seems that the new Tucson has taken inspiration from the new Palisade flagship SUV offered in North America and Korea. The slim ‘Cascading' front grille, dual-tier headlight design and LED daytime-running light signature appear the same as Palisade.

At the rear, designing appointments like joining the tail-light clusters with a red plastic strip, bumper design, and dual oval tailpipes show a blend of ongoing Tucson and Kia Sportage. 18-inch alloy wheels designing matches with new Venue and Sonata.

Hyundai Tucson side rearBeijing Hyundai Tucson is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 176 PS of power at 5500 rpm and 265 Nm between 1500 and 4500rpm. The same oily bits are also offered by Elite and Highlander versions of the Tucson in Australia.

Power is sent through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with front- and all-wheel drive variants available. The fuel consumption is stated as 14.9 kmpl in front-drive version and 13.8 in AWD. The Chinese version comes with idle stop/start technology for better fuel consumption.

  • TFT digital instrument cluster
  • The larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • The bespoke centre stack and console design
  • Leatherette dashboard

Hyundai Australia announced the 2020 Tucson updations in July, which include significant adoption of autonomous emergency braking across the range.

In the global market, the official premiere of new Tucson is expected to be in 2020.
