The 2020 iteration of the Ford Escape, a mid-size SUV, is about to hit the dealerships by Q3 of 2020. So, the automaker has now given out the details for the SUV, along with its pricing. It is set to lock horns against the Toyota RAV4 and the Mazda CX-5.

The Ford Escape is set to be priced at $ 35,990, excluding the on-road charges. It will be offered in three different grades - base FWD, sportier ST-Line and Vignale flagship. The mid-spec and flagship models will be priced $2,000 and $8,600 higher respectively.

The new Ford Escape is built on a modular C2 platform that is more rigid to fit the bills in the modern world. It is also longer and wider than the outgoing model, which makes the cabin roomier than it was before.

Ford will offer the 2020 Escape in both IC and PHEV powertrains. The combustion powertrain will be powered by a 2.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine that can churn out a maximum power of 249 PS, along with a peak torque of 387 Nm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission gearbox.

Ford Escape plug-in-hybrid

On the other hand, the plug-in hybrid models will get a combination of a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor. The combined power produced by this drivetrain is 227 PS. The electric motor is fuelled by a 14.4 kWh battery pack, which is claimed to propel the car on pure electric mode for up to 50 kilometres.

The top-of-the-line model will ride on 19-inch alloy wheels, while 20-inch units are optional. Inside the cabin, there is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that gets SYNC connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is also leather upholstery on the heated seats. Moreover, the front seats are 10-way power-adjustable.
