A VIN list of total 1280 vehicles (available for sale between 16 October 2017 and 6 February 2019) is provided by the automaker which may get affected by the aforementioned defect.

The company officials mention the wiring harness as a cause of the problem. The weak retention force in the wiring harness connector may lead to disruptions in the working of control modules in the car. The issue can lead to different consequences in different cases which include:

  • The turn signals may stop working or
  • The engine might not restart or
  • The passenger-side front airbag may not deploy in a crash

The owners of the affected cars will get a notification from Mazda Australia, requesting them to bring the vehicle to an authorized repairer for a free fix. For more information, consumers can call on 1800 034 411. Further, the original notice provided by the company can also be checked.

Mazda CX-9 engine is powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 231 PS and 420 Nm of torque through a six-speed automatic gearbox. The company claims a run of 11.36 kmpl.
