The Holden Commodore Tourer maintains the large and wide stance on the inside as well, which is pretty much visible with how the dashboard has been laid out. The yacht-like theme for the dashboard, with wide theme for the centre console and recessed buttons for automatic climate control, adds to the luxurious appeal.

Even the space on the inside is humongous, thanks to the long wheelbase and great width, which give the Commodore Tourer incredible amounts of legroom, knee room, and shoulder room. The station wagon theme also means that the Commodore Touring has got a cavernous boot space for your weekend getaways. With features like leather upholstery, heated front, and rear seats, wireless phone charging, hands-free tailgate, panoramic sunroof, and a modern touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, active noise cancellation, remote engine start and an 8-speaker BOSS audio system with subwoofer, it is sufficiently kitted as well.

The Holden Commodore Tourer takes a leaf from its sedan counterpart, and stretches its boundaries by having a more functional and practical station wagon profile. While this attempt, it does include some SUV bits, which do make it look rugged and sleek at the same time.

The word ‘sleek’ strikes your mind the moment you see the Commodore Tourer head-on, with eyebrow shaped swept back LED headlamps and stretched big grille at the front. The black cladding as well as skid plates below, along with chrome inserts for fog lamps, indeed add a rugged touch to the frontal stance.

The station wagon theme is quite evident when you view the Commodore Tourer from the side. While the side profile still has got the continuity of black cladding below, the low roofline and ground clearance reduces the masculinity a bit. The long and wide stance of the Holden Commodore Tourer might give it an impression of a vehicle which might not be an agile handler. However, thanks to a lower ground clearance and low seating posture, the Commodore Tourer offers great stability and connection to the surface beneath. The ‘high ride suspension’, as what Holden claims for it, is quite subtle over broken surfaces, thus giving it a feel of an SUV.

Powering the Holden Commodore Tourer is a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine, which here is coupled to a nine-speed automatic transmission. With a maximum power output rated at 320 PS and a peak torque output of 381 Nm, which is channeled to all four wheels via an adaptive all-wheel drive system, the Commodore Tourer has got enough punch for its size.

Being a premium vehicle, the Holden Commodore Tourer packs in some very upmarket safety features, like side blind zone alert, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, following distance indicator, 360-degree camera and heads up display. 

With a long and low profile of a sedan and rugged appeal of an SUV, the Holden Commodore Tourer tries to offer you the best of both the worlds. While it might not be an out and out adventurer, thanks to its limited ground clearance, the Holden Commodore Tourer still manages to give that big and luxury appeal of an SUV with premium features and spacious and airy cabin.
