Subaru revealed Levorg STI Sport prototype at Tokyo Auto Salon

Subaru has revealed its Wagon, Levorg STI Sport Prototype, at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon. The forthcoming offering previews updated looks and is said to come equipped with new tech features.

On the outside, the showcased car resembles its STI model prototype which was displayed at the 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon. However, the car now sports a more aggressive look with sporty aerodynamical edges and an additional set of lights above the fog lights. 

The other noticeable changes include STI-branded exhaust finishers, STI badges on the grille, and a more aggressive rear diffuser. Also, the STI sport rolls on a unique set of alloy wheels. One can even notice new front and rear splitters along with extensions for the side sills.

Due to the black tint on the window of the showcased car, there are currently no details about the cabin. However, the STI Sport production model can be expected to share individual interior stylings from the present generation Levorg STI Sport model.     

With a more moulded body, the Levorg STI Sport will be the very first car to feature the automaker’s electronically controlled dampers. The dampers are an air suspension system that provides the user with extra ride comfort and safety with map-controlled adjustment of the damper settings. Moreover, Subaru’s latest tech addition shall offer improved handling over different terrains. 

Although the automaker did not reveal many details on the car, we can expect the production model to carry the outgoing Levorg STI Sport's turbocharged 2.0-litre gasoline engine, which generates a maximum power of 296 hp along with a peak torque of up to 400 Nm. Additionally, a new 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine can also be considered as an offering, as it was featured in the prototype previous year.

Lastly, the prototype model looks to be ready to put into production. One can expect the car to hit showrooms by early 2021 or end of 2020, as the new Levorg is scheduled to be on sale in Japan during the second half of 2020.
