Skoda Karoq production hits 250,000 mark

Skoda has achieved the production mark of 250,000 units for its compact SUV, Karoq in just two years. The world premiere of Skoda Karoq happened on May 2017 and the serial production started at its Kvasiny plant in July 2017. 

Skoda has sold around 97,900 units of Karoqs globally in 2019, and the sales figure of 2018 shows the mark of 115,700 units. Skoda has been manufacturing the Karoq at Kvasiny plant in Kvasiny since the beginning and also in Mlada Boleslav since this January.

The milestone vehicle was made on September 20, features a Black Magic metallic finish and is powered by a 116 PS 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine.

The 2020 Skoda Karoq specifications include the following major technical upgrades:

• Side Assist system pairing the blind-spot warning lights into the mirror caps which can now notify the driver about a proceeding vehicle from 70 metres away
• The newly added tech performs at speeds above 15kmph when accelerating and down to as low as 10km/h under the condition of braking
• Keyless entry and start system with a motor sensor in the key fob which prevents the vehicle from being stolen 

Among the Skoda Karoq variants, now customers can find a front-wheel-drive version with Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), which adjusts the suspension according to the different driving modes including Comfort, Normal, and Sport.

The 2020 Skoda Karoq engine bay gets a 2.0 TDI four-cylinder turbo-diesel producing 190 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque which complies with all the latest regulations of Euro 6d-Temp emissions, It incorporates an SCR catalytic converter including AdBlue injection and a diesel particulate filter. 

Paul Pottinger, communications boss for Volkswagen Group Australia stated in the context of additional Karoq variant, "We are working on it, and we're aiming to introduce it in 2020,".
