Holden confirms to bring eight-generation Chevy Corvette in Australia
Chevrolet breaks the cover off the all-new Corvette, which falls in its eighth generation. It is the first time ever that the car will get a mid-mounted engine. Not only that, but the car also features a supercar look too.
As for the powertrain, the sports coaster is equipped with a 6.2-litre V8 engine. It is capable of churning out a maximum power of 496 hp and the peak torque is 637 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. However, the carmaker has not confirmed yet whether the car will get the rumoured hybrid or twin-turbo-powered mills.
The official importer of the Chevrolet Corvette, Holden has released a statement through the chairman and managing director, Dave Buttner. He said, “The news that Corvette will now be built in right-hand drive for the first time ever – and will be exported to Australia – is hugely exciting for our team at Holden and any Australian who loves high-performance cars."
Further, the carmaker has said that the brand has a long history in motor-racing and the performance vehicles are one of the most indelible parts in the manufacturer’s history. Also, only the iconic Chevrolet Corvette logos are present on the new car, there will be no chance of Holden badging.
The carmaker has not confirmed the exact timing of the Australian launch, while it is expected that the car will hit the Australian shores by early 2021. The exact price is also a big mystery in the market. However, the Holden dealers have informed that it will be between $ 100,000 and $ 150,000.
