Ford files trademark application for ‘Stormtrak’ name in Europe

Ford has submitted a trademark application for the Stormtrak name in Europe. AutoGuide was the first source to mention the filing of the name, ‘Stormark’. Previously, in August last year, Mondeo Evos moniker was also trademarked by Ford for future use in production or concept vehicles. 

Rumour has it that Ford is gearing up for the production of an upcoming wagon. The forthcoming offering shall enjoy its styling cues as a stretched and widened version of the latest Focus.

The likelihood of the arrival of such a vehicle rose the previous year at the appearance of spy photos. The photos revealed a wagon body with a taller suspension than the traditional cars by Ford. Also, the panels of the spied car represented the similarity with the Focus variant.

However, the forthcoming wagon by the automaker is suspected to compete against the Subaru Outback, which is a renowned car in the wagon segment. The Focus rides on a C2 modular platform that enables the use of different powertrain layouts. The C2 platform of the vehicle also allows the powertrain configuration to use combustion engines and hybrid systems over all-wheel-drive configuration.

The Ford Focus is powered by a 2.3-litre turbocharged engine that generates a maximum power of 350 hp and peak torque of up to 420 Nm. The four-cylinder engine comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission along with a seven-speed automatic as an option. The trim offers front wheels drive and reaches the speed of 100 km per hour from an ideal start in 5.7 seconds.

The engine features anti-lag, while the manual transmission gets rev-match technology. Additionally, the car could also feature a 1.5-litre turbo gasoline motor as a base offering.
