FCA recalls 2014 model-year Jeep Cherokee

2014 model-year 'KL' Jeep Cherokee has been recalled by the FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles), due to the concerns over the stuck clutch that shifts the clutch automatically to neutral while driving. A total of 2263 units of Jeep Cherokee is included in this recall that was sold between February 1, 2014, to January 1, 2018.

According to the carmaker, "A switch to neutral may cause an unexpected loss of motive power, which may result in an accident, affecting the safety of the vehicle occupants and other road users."

It is informed that the local division of the FCA will contact the owners whose vehicle are affected through the mail. They will be instructed to contact the preferred dealer that will reprogramme the Transmission Control Module at free of cost. For more information, the customer can contact 1300 133 079.

However, it is not the first time that the Jeep Cherokee has been affected in a recall. During previous months, the 2008-09 Cherokee and the 2010 Cherokee, both were included in two separate recall.

Speaking of the 2008-09 MY Cherokee, the main reason for the recall was the incorrect load and speed rating. There is a placard on the Nitro, which does not consist the 'p-metric qualifier' and stated the speed rating is also wrong.

On the other hand, the 2010 Cherokee was recalled because of an incorrectly-manufactured brake pedal clip that can end the connection of the brake pedal and brake booster. So, it is clear that the driver will not be able to use the brakes, which will result in a severe accident. Around 55 vehicles are included in the campaign.

To recall, in the Australian market, the MY17/ MY18 Cherokee is present. The Sport version of the car is equipped with a 2.4-litre petrol engine that can produce a maximum power of 174 hp, and the peak torque is 229 Nm. A nine-speed automatic transmission sends the power to the wheels.
