2020 Skoda Karoq revealed, gets an all-wheel-drive trim

The second quarter of 2020 will witness the arrival of a newer and better Skoda Karoq down under. The new Skoda Karoq compact SUV will come with enhanced muscular & sporty looks, a much powerful & fun to drive engine, and an all-wheel-drive setup. Starting with the appearance, the SUV will sport a blacked-out body kit, chunky 19-inch Vega alloy wheels, and other attractive & muscular elements on the outside.

The interior, on the other hand, will be bestowed with the likes of stainless-steel pedals, perforated leather upholstery, LED ambient lighting. and a sports steering wheel. Speaking of the mechanical bits & pieces, the 2020 Skoda Karoq will house under its hood a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot petrol-fed engine that will churn out 187 hp of maximum power and a peak torque of 320 Nm. This particular engine will come mated to a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission and will be found on the range-topping all-wheel-drive 140TSI Sportline model.

Unlike last year, when the front-wheel-drive 110TSI trim was launched with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol-fed four-cylinder engine, the same 110TSI variant will now house a 1.4-litre mill. The power figures, however, remain the same at 147 hp of top power output alongside a peak torque of 250 Nm. It also replaced the 10TSI’s seven-speed DSG transmission with Aisin's eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.

The previous powertrain options of the Skoda Karoq will now be offered in markets that have subscribed to the poignant WLTP and Euro6 ordinances. Since Australia is not one of them, it will receive the new powertrains. Following the developments, Skoda has removed the cylinder deactivation technology, and the fuel consumption has now gone up to 6.6 litres per 100 km from the previous figure of 5.8 litres per 100 km.

Full specifications and pricing details of the 2020 Skoda Karoq will be out in the early part of 2020 before the small SUV makes its way to Australia.
