No smash with 2020 Isuzu D Max, bags five-star rating at ASEAN NCAP

Vehicles from Isuzu clan are always known for their strength and reliability. The latest results from the ASEAN NCAP programme is giving strong reasons to those who are considering to buy the all-new 2020 Isuzu D Max. Abiding by all safety norms, the 2020 Isuzu D Max pick-up truck secured a full rating at the crash test conducted by the ASEAN New Car Assessment Programme.

Passing with flying colours is what we can see with the scores of Isuzu’s crash test. Scores are evaluated for three categories namely, AOP (Adult Occupant Protection), COP (Child Occupant Protection) and Safety assist technologies. The pick- up truck scored a whopping combined score of 83.16 which breaks down to 42.72 for AOP, 21.83 for COP and 18.61 for safety assistance.

With this achievement, Isuzu has outperformed its current model which scored a four-star rating when tested in the year 2014.
Detailed crash test results throw light on facts that both the driver and front passenger were substantially protected from frontal impacts. Also, adequately outfitted were the chest and head protection department, which is always a plus. It is, however, noteworthy that the driver’s right knee and thigh were only marginally protected in the event of a frontal impact.

Child Occupants protection test has also shown exemplary results with 8.00 and 4.00 points for front and side impacts, respectively. Well equipped child seat installation is another influencer that is not offered by many pick-up trucks.

Isuzu D Max truly deserves laud for the safety features installed in it. Dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic brakeforce distribution are mainstream, but blind-spot monitoring technology is unique and caught our attention. Additionally, electronic stability control will be available as optional across all market regions.

The model on test was the Thai-spec dual-cab version, hence we are not sure if the blind spot technology will be available with vehicles in Australia. We hope it is offered as an optional extra, if not integrated into the pick-up.
