2020 Honda Civic Hatchback gets updates with a bump in price

Honda has revised its Civic hatchback for 2020. The updated offering receives minor changes in exterior and interior, along with updated tech features and a rise in its price. 

Honda has laid more emphasis on updating its Sport and Sport Touring trims in the new range. Civic’s fully loaded Sport Touring trim now comes with a six-speed manual transmission that was previously available only for the Sport trim. The Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) has also been retained on the Sport trim. 

On the exterior, changes for the revised hatchback include a new bumper and updated grille along with a darker headlight trim. The rear bumper is reshaped, and users can notice revised fog light housings that feature body-coloured crossbars. Additionally, the top Sport Touring trim flaunts new LED headlights.  

All the hatchback trims from the Civic lineup roll on an updated set of new dark grey or black wheels. The new 18-inch alloy wheels are fitted with wider 235/40 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, while the VTi-LX (sporty RS) variant retains its predecessor’s wheels. Users are also offered new colour options, namely Red Metallic and Taffeta White, that are available across all grades, while the Civic RS variant also gets an exclusive Phoenix Orange colour.

Honda Civic features a 180 hp engine as standard on its Sport and Sport Touring trim. The automaker has provided a 174 hp engine as standard on LX, EX, and EX-L. The comfort of the car is handled by a fully independent multi-link rear suspension, 

Inside, Honda Civic lineup features different dashboard trims for the different cars. However, the new updates feature a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with a proximity-key system as standard. Honda also introduced an upgraded sound insulation system. Previously, the vehicle featured a non-touchscreen display with limited connectivity functions. 

The EX variant of the hatchback has been updated with an 8-way power driver’s seat in addition to a shift knob and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The updated versions now come with the price tag as follows, VTi 1.8 at $22,790 with an increase of $400, VTi-S 1.8 at $24,990, up by $500, VTi-L 1.5 - $28,390 with an increase of $600, RS 1.5 at $33,540, resembling a hike by $1250, and VTi-LX 1.5 which is priced at $34,090, up by $500.
