2020 BMW 1 Series pricing and specs revealed
The all-new BMW 1 Series is expected to arrive in showrooms by the end of 2019 and the automaker has just revealed its pricing and specifications. The new BMW front-drive 1 Series will have two models- 118i and M135i xDrive with the price-tag of $42,990 and $63,990, respectively.
The 118i has a $4000 increase over the outgoing model and offers more speed, space, and tech features. It is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine producing 140 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque with power going to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission as standard. The standard model comes with the M Sport Package including 18-inch M alloy wheels, ‘M' steering wheel, sports seats trimmed in cloth, and 'sensate' fake leather, and a black headliner.
The complete range of 1 Series offers lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, and rear cross-traffic alert standard, along with parking sensors at both ends, a rear-view camera, and parking assistant. Inside the cabin, there are two 10.25-inch displays and a head-up display paired with wireless Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, and a six-speaker sound system. The other offered packages are Comfort Package($2300), Driver Assistance Package ($1000), M Sport Plus Package ($2100) and Convenience Package ($1200).
Next, on the board is M135i xDrive, powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 305 PS of power and 450 Nm of torque, put to all four wheels through an adaptive M xDrive AWD system with an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. In comparison to 118i, the M135i gets a more dynamic exterior styling including 19-inch alloy wheels, M Sport Brakes, M Sport Steering, and an M Rear Spoiler. Other standard equipment features adaptive LED headlights with high-beam assist, keyless entry and start, and a 16-speaker surround sound system. Other optional packages are Enhancement Package ($2900), Comfort Package ($923), and Convenience Package ($1200).
In contrast to the earlier version, the new BMW 1 Series has come up with a more practical, comfortable take on the hatchback formula. The redesigned sunroof provides more headroom, the front-drive feature offers more knee room and a larger trunk incorporates 20 litres of extra boot space for keeping luggage.
