BMW X3

The improved interiors of the car are sure to add to its elegance. The interior Vivus leather upholstery, coupled with black high gloss interior trim, and Pearl Chrome highlight trim finishers add a spark to the interiors of the SUV series. The steering wheel is packed with sports leather and the m40i display a premium “Vernasca” leather upholstery with the instrument panel in Sensatec and BMW signature door sill finishers. 

The whole series presents an advanced class of technology with Remote Services, automated air-conditioning, Driving Assistant, BMW iDrive feature, Real-Time Traffic Information, Central locking, and 10.25-inch touch display and Harman Kardon for sounds. There are several other convenient technologies added to the series by BMW to give the riders a comfortable and satisfactory experience on the ride.

With a grown size, the X3 series now wears its skin quite comfortably and it is well-preferred in the Australian market. The basic variants namely the xDrive 20i and 30i with 20d and 30d as diesel variants and the supreme M40i look almost the same, with 19” alloy wheels for the x20i and x30i with Y-spoke style and 20’ alloys for the M40i and x30d models, with double-spoke style 718M for the M40i. The car wears BMW Individual Exterior Line Aluminium satinated with round exhaust pipes on either side served with a chrome finish and BMW classic ornamental kidney grille frame with kidney strut front surfaces in matte aluminium and roof-rails decorated in satinated aluminium. 

In addition to basic exterior features, the m40i boasts an M aerodynamic package and BMW individual high-gloss Shadow line and an Individual roof that sets it apart from the other variants of the series. The m40i also has other exterior designs in Cerium Grey.
The overall appeal of the series is extremely attractive and BMW has transformed the X3 series to make it more cumbersome in cities.

The X3 series provides the comfort of an SUV and the performance of a sports sedan. The ride is very smooth and comfortable with smooth corner experiences and a really flexible driving experience. The steering might feel a little rigid at times though. The suspension is raised which might be a little contradictory to the performance and engine abilities of a low slung car. Overall, the car glides smoothly over bumps and city traffic.

BMW has given special emphasis on the performance of the series and packed two powerful 2.0-litres, 4-cylinder, turbo-charged engines (one diesel and one petrol) to the basic variants of the series. While the petrol makes 135 kW of power, the diesel model delivers 140 kW easily.

The next in the range is the 30i, with a re-tuned 2.0-litre engine to make 185 kW. The range-topping 30d and M40i are powered by 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engines that make 195 kW and 265 kW respectively. An 8-speed automatic gearbox is standard across the line where the 30d and M40i get Sport tuning on the transmission.

BMW has made considerable safety features upgrade for optimum safety to drivers. Front side and knee airbags for driver and passenger, with ABS and features like Performance Control, that distributes equal torque to all wheels and inner vented brakes, it is a safe hub. Cornering lights, LED headlamps and special daytime running lights with anti-dazzle rear views make it very convenient for drivers.

The X3 series offers the optimum size preferred in the Australian market and the midsize SUV is unquestionable when it comes to performance. It is comfortable, fast and very practical and value for money vehicle in its class. Although a little expensive, it’s family friendliness and overall all-round abilities coupled with stunning exteriors and advanced features make it a top competitor in the segment and is surely a top choice.
