2019 Lexus UX250h and ES300h model lines recalled due to faulty electric brake booster assembly
The Japanese automaker Toyota's luxury vehicle division Lexus, has recalled 10 cars of 2019 UX250h and ES300h model lines, which were produced in May 2019. The main reason behind the recall is the faulty electric brake booster, which was also responsible for halting the sales of various Lexus and Toyota hybrids.
According to the manufacturer, there is a fault in the electronic brake booster pump assembly that originated out of manufacturing defects. It also said, “In some cases, the brake booster pump may stop operating. If this occurs, multiple warning lights and messages could illuminate on the instrument panel and audible chimes could sound." Explaining it further, it stated, “After several brake pedal applications, power brake assist could be lost completely. A loss of power brake assists while driving could increase the vehicle stopping distance and may increase the risk of an accident."
Toyota's luxury vehicle division also follows the same path, what Toyota had opted. It will contact the owners who are affected and the nearest dealers will give them proper advise of the recall. It will also request them to come with their vehicle to a preferred dealer so that the car can be inspected properly.
The manufacturer also said that it will replace the faulty electric brake booster assembly with a new one free of cost. The fix is estimated to take only five to six hours. Moreover, the carmaker has claimed that no such accidents have been reported yet due to the fault.
As per Toyota’s point of view, the faulty electric brake booster assembly has harmed its sales as well. The sales of the hybrid variants of Corolla, Camry, RAV4, and Prius, as well as the Lexus UX and ES, have been stopped for the same issue.
