2019 Honda Accord price starts at $47,990

Supplanting all wait, anticipation, and excitement, the brand-new 2019 Honda Accord has, at last, landed on the Australian shores. The 2019 model of the Japanese sedan has arrived in a single trim with two different powertrain options and will take on the likes of the Skoda Superb, Kia Stinger, and other sedans available in the Australian automobile market. Size-wise, the new model is 26 mm shorter and 12mm wider than the outgoing model. Despite the shorter length, the wheelbase as actually has gone up by 55 mm.

Moreover, with acoustic windscreen glass, insulation in the wheel arches, sound-absorbing carpet, full underbody sealing, and active noise cancellation making way to the sedan, the 2019 Honda Accord is said to be a lot quieter on the inside when compared to the previous model. Present on both the offerings is an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, wireless smartphone charging, head-up display, keyless entry/start, shark fin antenna, LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, LED taillamps, rain-sensing wipers, electronically adjustable & retractable ORVMs with built-in LED turn signals, i-Dual-zone climate control with rear ventilation, electric parking brake, auto-dimming rearview mirror, driver's seat with 8-way power adjustment, passenger's seat with 4-way power adjustment, and 452 W 10-speaker sound system.

While the two offerings are pretty much the same in terms of equipment onboard, they are quite different when it comes to the mechanical bits and pieces. First up, the VTi-LXI Petrol model features a 1.5-litre DOHC VTEC turbocharged in-line four-cylinder that makes 190 hp of maximum power and a peak torque of 260 Nm. The VTi-LX Hybrid, on the other hand, is powered by a 2.0-litre Hybrid DOHC i-VTEC in-line four-pot motor & two electric motors churning out a top power output of 214 hp alongside 315 Nm of peak torque. As for the gearbox, the VTi-LX Petrol gets a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), whereas the VTi-LX Hybrid comes sporting an Electric Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT).

Apart from the standard safety features like multiple SRS airbags, front & rear parking sensors with a 360-degree camera and Smart Parking Assist (SPA) with Rear Collision Mitigation Braking System, Rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), ABS with EBD & BA, Traction Control System (TCS), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), High-beam Support System (HSS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), and Driver Attention Monitor (DAM), the 2019 Honda Accord also comes equipped with the high-end safety suite “Honda Sensing”. Thanks to the presence of Honda Sensing, the new Accord features Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow (LSF), and High Beam Support System.

As for the pricing, the 2019 Honda Accord VTi-LX trim comes at $47,990, while the VTi-LX Hybrid gets a price tag of $50,490.
