2016 Range Rover Evoque recalled, concern CO2 emissions

Jaguar Land Rover Australia has recently issued a recall notice for three 2016 Range Rover Evoques due to concerns about meeting the emission standards. The officials explained the defect as, "During testing, there was greater than expected variation in CO2  emissions between vehicles". A VIN list of the vehicles from the concerned three units (available for sale between 18 December 2015 - 30 March 2016) is provided which may get affected from the aforementioned defect. It includes a total of 1731 vehicles- 958 Land Rovers and 773 Jaguars.

Earlier in May, a similar notice was issued for 2016-17 model year Land Rover Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Velar with 2.0-litre petrol engines for deviations in actual emissions. Before this, an announcement was made by the automaker regarding the recall of 44,000 vehicles in the UK for the same concern, where CO2 emissions may not accord with the standard specifications.

The owners of the affected cars will get a notification from JLR requesting them to bring the vehicle to an authorised repairer for an ECU software update, oil change, and engine belt replacement. For more information, consumers can call on 1300 787 803. Further, the original notice provided by the company can also be checked.

The Evoque is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that makes 180 PS of power and 430 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a 9-speed automatic transmission. It seems adequately powered when compared to its rivals, though, it is not the most powerful SUV in its class. It includes a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, front and rear parking aid, 360-degree camera and an 825W, 10-speaker, Meridian sound system, among others. In terms of safety, it is equipped with 7 airbags, ABS, EBD, dynamic stability control, traction control, roll stability control, all-terrain progress control, hill descent control, and trailer stability assist.
