Hyundai Accent Sedan

The Hyundai Accent sedan is identical to its hatchback version, save for the additional boot and some extra features. Akin to the Accent hatchback, it is also available in a single Sport variant with a DOHC petrol unit in both automatic and a manual gearbox. Prices for the Hyundai Accent sedan fall in the vicinity of $ 15,990 and $17,985 (all prices MRLP). The Accent sedan shares copiously with its hatchback sibling, albeit some differences put both models apart such as it has an additional boot space of 95mm, the bag hooks inside the cabin and the rear wiper are missing in the sedan. Exterior colour options offered on both the models are same which include chalk white, lake silver, phantom black, pulse red, thunderbolt and blue lagoon. 

With the addition of boot, the Accent sedan measures slightly longer at 4,370 mm as compared to the hatchback. Aside from this, both have the same proportions, measuring 1,700 mm wide, 1,450 mm high and even sharing the same wheelbase at 2570 mm. The face gets a petite mesh grille with Hyundai’s logo in the centre and a thin chrome surrounding, which flank petal-shaped headlamps. Lower down, it also gets air-inlets which allow passage of air to keep the engine cool. The sides are marked by alloy wheels and character lines that define the true styling of this city car. A prominent shoulder line stretches right from the A-pillar right across to the D pillar, where it merges with the tail-lamps. 

Built on the same wheelbase, the Accent sedan can accommodate five adults at front and rear. It gets multiple storage points within the cabin that enhance its utility quotient. That said, the sedan comes with cup holders, glove box compartment, bag hooks and cup holders on the centre console, etc. Talking in context of comfort, the seats are fixed in an upright position that squeezes the knee room at the rear. The additional boot in Accent sedan carves out more luggage storage space. Where it could have equalled its rivals, if not overshadow, is the material quality, which unfortunately isn’t up to the expectations. In terms of features, it makes do with a manual AC unit, however, driver’s seat with height adjuster, 12V power outlet in front, power windows at front and rear, rear wiper, cruise control, and steering mounted controls are a part of the standard pack. The audio system comes with a 5-inch touchscreen supported by Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay, etc. 

Power is derived from a 1.6-litre, DOHC engine with D-CVVT technology with 103 kW of maximum power at 6,300 rpm against a peak torque of 167 Nm at 4,850 rpm. This engine can be availed with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Power to cease speed is drawn by disc units at front and rear. Besides, it packs a host of safety bits such as ABS with EBD and brake assist, vehicle stability control, dual front airbags, impact sensing auto door unlock, side curtain airbags, height-adjustable headrests, child safety rear door locks, and ISOFIX child restraints among several others.
