The interior has the fit and finish of a premium car, without a doubt. The seats are done in premium Dakota leather that is extremely comfortable. The dashboard holds a simplistic layout with an 8.8-inch touchscreen display that has the iDrive Touch Controller. The entertainment setup has a 6-speaker set of 100W. The AC vents on the dashboard have a wooden trim that enhances the overall appeal. Even the centre console is quite plush, especially with the shiny piano finish.

The BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is offered in three trim levels - 420, 430, and 440. However, there isn’t a huge difference between the exterior package as most of them are offered as standard. The car rides on 19-inch alloy wheels that offer great grip and road presence. There are LED lights all across, be it for the headlamps, tail section or the fog lamps (both front and rear).

The rear section looks extremely attractive with dual exhaust pipes dipped in chrome. The combination tail light and the shark fin antenna adds to the designing. The side profile is uncompromised too. The coupe-ish roofline is well executed with a long hood and short rear tail.

The BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is a superb handler. It has great aerodynamics that makes for stability at top speeds too. And yes, the platform, suspensions, and tyres are designed to offer the best cornering stability.

The base 420i can hit an acceleration of 0-100km/h in just 7.7 seconds, while 430i can do so in 5.9 seconds. However, the range-topper M Sport model can hit triple-digit in just 5.1 seconds.

The BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe has three different engine options on offer, all of them being petrol. The base model gets the 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 135 kW, along with a peak torque of 270 Nm.

The next in the lineup, the 430i, uses the same 2.0-litre engine but has a different tuning that manages 185 kW of maximum power and the highest torque of 350 Nm. The range-topping 440i makes use of a bigger 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder mill that can thump out 240 kW of power and a whopping 450 Nm of torque.

As for the transmission, there is an 8-speed automatic sport gearbox as standard across the lineup.

The BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe takes care of almost all the safety measures as standard. There are airbags for the front occupants, sides, and head for both the rows. Braking is taken care of by inner vented disc brakes along with anti-lock braking system, braking assistant and cornering brake control.

Apart from these, there are many driver’s assistance features too, including dynamic stability control, dynamic traction control, park distance control, cruise control and braking assistance, etc.

The BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is one of the best coupe cars in the price segment, albeit a little old. However, despite its age, it still stands firm with amazing design and modern technology. Plus, the great driving stability and safety features it has, it is one of the most preferred luxury coupes in the Australian market.
