Volkswagen to offer wireless Apple CarPlay in all Australian models
Volkswagen has announced to bring wireless Apple Carplay to all its models in Australia in the next 18 months. Currently, the only models equipped with the new MIB3 infotainment system that features the 'App-Connect Wireless' technology is the 2020 Passat 140TSI.
The PR Spokesman of Volkswagen Australia, Kurt McGuiness recently confirmed that wireless Apple CarPlay is to be updated into various models and eventually become the standard format.
He further added, "As our vehicles move into a new generation of technology, it’s not going to be a case where you have wired Apple CarPlay for some models and wireless for others. The (infotainment) system generations will just update with various model updates and it’ll become the standard format."
The new infotainment dubbed as MIB3 wireless CarPlay system was primarily planned to be a feature of the high-end infotainment grade, but an update has been made confirming that the MIB3 system will be the standard format for both 8.0-inch Discover Media and 9.2-inch Discover Pro.
The facelifted 2020 Skoda Superb was initially meant to bring the MIB3 infotainment system into Australia but unfortunately has been held up with the delay issues.
The 2020 Passat 140TSI Business is available in Australian showrooms for a price starting from $45,990.
