Skoda released the seven-millionth copy of Octavia
Skoda has been around for a really long time and some of the cars have been around for a very long time. The Octavia has been around since 1959 and 2019 marks its 60th anniversary and has just crossed a major milestone. Ever since its first inception, the automaker has produced 7 million units.
The current generation (fourth) of the Skoda Octavia was introduced in 2012 and has been restyled in 2017. Having assembled over 2.6 million units of the same, the car has reached its end of the cycle. But yes, the replacement has already been announced in November last year.
The new generation Skoda Octavia will be in the standard sedan form, though the production has not started yet. The automaker is also readying an RS sport version of the sedan, which is slated to debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
But this is not where the new generation Octavia would come to a stop as the automaker is also on track to bring a wagon car that would have the bodyworks inspired by an SUV design. But what is even more interesting to see is whether the new model, which all of its variants, could sell better than the current and outgoing model, which has already set up a big benchmark.
Skoda offers the present generation Octavia, in various variants. The Octavia, Octavia Sport and Octavia RS 245 are all available in both sedan and wagon forms. The Octavia RS 245 is powered by a 2.0-litre, turbo engine that can churn out a maximum power of 245 PS, along with a peak torque of 370 Nm. The lusty torque and good power are enough to propel the car to a 0-100 kmph sprint in just 6.7 seconds.
