Maserati ends GranTurismo production with special edition Zéda

Maserati ends GranTurismo production with special edition Zéda

The Italian luxury carmaker Maserati is now betting high on the electrification front, and this move involves the termination of the existing models. The firm perceives that this will make the way promising for the new models which are built on electric grounds.

So, first on the list is Maserati GranTurismo, the car which is well-known for its best exhaust notes in the market. With an intend to celebrate the successful end of the 12-year run model, the brand has revealed its special edition named GranTurismo Zéda, which will be the last GranTurismo to roll off the line.

Along with this, the brand also announced a grand renovation of its Modena plant to have a comprehensive focus on product innovation and to develop electric cars for the first time.

In 2007, Maserati unveiled the GranTurismo at Geneva motor show, since then it was among the most famous cars manufactured by the Italian carmaker. In the 12-year lifespan, the brand has sold more than 40,000 units globally. Now the GranTurismo special edition model will travel around the world to bid farewell to it and also indicate the advent of new, electrified super sports cars.

If we look at the GranTurismo Zéda appearance, it got the customized paint schemes that display the brand’s new environmentally-minded paint applications. It shows a tri-color mix of blue, black, and grey- Maserati blue at the front, black in the middle, and satin grey at the rear. The Zéda is powered by the same 4.7-litre Ferrari sourced V8 engine producing 453 PS of power and 520 Nm of torque.

On the matter of the upcoming electric car, the market expects that the “Alfieri” concept would replace the GranTurismo, but the firm mentioned the electrified, next-generation GranTurismo. So, stay tuned to Zigwheels Australia for further updates.
