BMW announced four new additions to its M series with a lower pricing
BMW Australia has expanded its M car lineup by adding four new cars to the list. The company introduced an affordable new entry-level ‘Pure’ versions of the BMW M340i xDrive sports sedan and the X2 M35i, X5 M50i and X6 M50i SUVs.
All four Pure models are said to join their existing non-Pure models. Additionally, BMW Australia will also introduce the M550i xDrive Pure soon, as promised by the automaker last year.
The recently introduced models are said to retain the powertrain of the models on which they are based. All variants feature an eight-speed automatic transmission along with a different level of equipment, resulting in a lower price of the cars.
The X2 M35i Pure price starts from $64,400, retains the regular’s 2.0-litre turbo engine which produces a maximum power of 301 hp alongside a peak torque of up to 450 Nm. However, apart from keeping all the M class features, the Pure variant misses the power front seats and seat heating, Dakota leather upholstery, and the comfort access package which comes as standard on the regular model.
The M340i xDrive gets a price cut by $10,000, making it at $94,900, is powered by the same 3.0-litre turbo inline-six engine, generating a total power of 382 hp and peak torque of up to 500 Nm. Additionally, the Pure variant misses out on the Sensatec instrument panel, Laserlight headlights, a glass roof, and the heated seats.
The upper range SUV X5 and the X6 M50i which move up to the range of $136,900, get standard features of heated front seats, electric seat adjustment with memory function, comfort access, ambient lighting, Driving Assistant Professional, adaptive LED headlights amongst a long list. The M50i range also retains the standard M features of its lineup. Both the cars are powered by a 4.4-litre V8 engine, producing a maximum power of 522 hp alongside generating a peak torque of up to 750 Nm.
Lastly, all the cars are available to order, a month ahead of its actual production. BMW Australia mentions an increase in its sales of M models by 40 percent during 2019. With their new ‘Pure’ lineup, the automaker tends to deliver more available packages and witness a rise in sales for the brand.
