2021 Skoda Octavia sketches revealed

Skoda unveiled the sketches of its biggest-selling Octavia sedan ahead of its scheduled display on 11th November. The fourth-generation Octavia sketches flaunt the re-built exterior styling of the upcoming vehicle especially the massive wheels and the absence of door handles.

The sketches also illustrate that the design theme is somewhat identical to Skoda Scala. At the front, the company's corporate grille is positioned in the middle along with the pair of angular headlights and a sharp shoulder crease on the sides. At the rear, redesigned crystalline tail-lights are provided and the corporate badge is dropped to make extra space for “SKODA” lettering on the tailgate.

The new Octavia exterior dimensions are expected to be the same as the ongoing model, but it will have the updated MQB platform, alike the next-gen Volkswagen Golf. The engine options to be offered include turbocharged petrol and diesel. The base trim will be powered by the updated 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with the option of 1.5-litre ‘TSI Evo’ unit. In the diesel powertrains, 1.6- and 2.0-litre units will be available. And among the larger engine choices, a PHEV version is likely to be included for better fuel economy.

As based on the new Scala, the 2020 Octavia also features a new interior styling and tech appointments. It includes a variety of materials, an updated digital instrumentation display, and a large touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Other upgrades on Octavia specs sheet include an electric parking brake and a newly designed two-spoke steering wheel. As for now, the market expects the availability of the all-new Octavia in two body styles- five-door liftback and wagon.
