2020 Toyota Mirai concept revealed
The Japanese automaker, Toyota has unveiled the second-gen 2020 Toyota Mirai FCEV concept model before the scheduled launch at the Tokyo Motor Show this month.
Yoshikazu Tanaka, chief engineer for the Mirai said, “The concept model is in the final stage of development before its global launch at the end of 2020. All parts of the fuel cell unit were redesigned, and we realized a new sensation of driving that keeps up with the styling.”
The new, sporty five-passenger vehicle is incorporated with one more seat compared to the ongoing model. It features the updated fuel cell technology and increased hydrogen storage capacity that offers up to 30 percent greater range.
The ongoing Mirai takes 3 minutes to get recharged and can travel around 650 kilometers on one charge.
The first looks of the hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicle seems amazing and luxurious. The wide, low stance, an elongated hood with the smooth arc of its coupe-like roofline describes the styling appointments of the vehicle. Not only this, the larger horizontal grille, deeply set headlamps, DRLs, and 20-inch wheels complement the look.
As the concept model suggests, the inside specs of the vehicle comprise EV-appropriate copper accents against a black trim, a big 12.3-inch main display placed on the dash and also a large digital instrument display behind the steering wheel.
The more technical specs of the new Toyota Mirai are not disclosed by the automaker yet. And also the availability in Australia is hazy.
The world’s first commercial launch of FCV happened in December 2014. Since then Toyota has sold about 10,000 units of the Mirai across the world. The selected automakers who are currently producing FCVs include Toyota, Honda Motor Co., and Hyundai Motor Co.
