2020 BMW X3 xDrive30e to arrive in Australia by Q2 2020
In the second quarter of 2020, BMW, the German automaker, will launch the brand's seventh plug-in hybrid model in Australia. And, the car will be the 2020 BMW X3 xDrive30e. Just as the 330e sedan, the 2020 BMW X3 xDrive30e also houses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 183 PS of maximum power.
The gearbox is an eight-speed automatic transmission that packs in a built-in electric motor that is capable of generating 108 PS of maximum power. Furthermore, the total power reads 292 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 420 Nm. It takes 6.1 seconds for the plug-in hybrid crossover to do a 0-100 kmph run.
Having a good look at the performance figures, the 2020 BMW X3 xDrive30e can do top speeds of up to 110 kmph or 135 kmph in different driving modes. Moreover, the claimed pure electric range of the crossover is 46 km. While a standard wall charger will charge the crossover in around 6 hours, the BMW i Wallbox, on the other hand, can juice up the same 12kWh battery pack in just 3.5 hours. BMW has placed the battery pack under the seat, whereas the fuel tank sits above the rear axle. Standard boot space reads 450 litres, and it can be prolonged to 1500 litres by folding the 40:20:40 split seats down.
Once launched, the 2020 BMW X3 xDrive30e will also feature low-speed acoustic alerts for pedestrians. We can't speak of the price and other Australia-specific specs yet as those will be revealed only when BMW launches the crossover over here.
