2020 Audi A1 Citycarver unveiled, won't come to Australia
We all could see it coming, couldn’t we? The ever so expanding crossover segment has been enticing automakers to roll out crossovers and SUVs of all sizes. Audi, on this occasion, has come up with its smallest crossover offering till date. Called the 2020 Audi A1 Citycarver, the small-ish German crossover is based on the Audi A1 Sportback. Courtesy of a ground clearance that is 35 mm higher than the standard A1, the A1 Citycarver flaunts a proper crossover look. The rise in the ground clearance has come due to a lifted suspension system.
Providing the 2020 Audi A1 Citycarver with the rough and muscular crossover kinda look are a chunkier front grille, skid plates at both front and rear, revisited & beefed up wheel arches, and thicker side skirts, among others. The 2020 Audi A1 Citycarver rides on 16- to 18-inch wheels depending on the variant. Thanks to the nine color options along with black/grey contrasting roof and the aforementioned crossover elements, the A1 Citycarver gives some cool Audi Q series vibes. Furthermore, the customers can also opt for the “black styling package” that replaces the standard grey and stainless-steel elements with blacked-out trim pieces.
While the interior on the 2020 Audi A1 Citycarver has simply been carried forward from the standard A1, customers do get a choice of choosing from either of the copper, mint, orange, or silver-grey finish for the transmission tunnel, door trims, and air vents. Go for the S Line package and you will get grey trim pieces inside the crossover. Then there is a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster along with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes equipped with all of the Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, hybrid route guidance, 3D city models, and satellite navigation.
The mechanical details about the smallest Audi crossover aren’t out yet, however, we expect the 2020 Audi A1 Citycarver to house a 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that churns out 200 hp of maximum power. Other mills from the A1 range may also make their way to the crossover. Audi will begin sales in the European continent starting from August, later this year. The 2020 Audi A1 Citycarver landing on the Australian shores is highly unlikely.
