2020 Alpina B3 Touring confirmed for Australia, comes with ‘S58’ M3 engine
The German automaker Alpina is known for selling high-performance versions of BMW cars. And this time, it is coming up with an all-new powered wagon B3 Touring, based on the regular 3 Series Touring.
The model was first unveiled during last month's Frankfurt Motor Show and is now expected to hit the Australian market in Q2 2020. It is powered by an 'S58' 3.0-litre inline-six turbocharged petrol engine producing 462 PS of power and 700 Nm of torque. Drive is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.
Though BMW X3 M and X4 M are equipped with the same powertrain, among 3 Series, B3 Touring is the first to get M3’s new engine. The top-speed can be counted beyond 300 kmph which seems fastest in the segment. However, 0-100 kmph acceleration time is still not confirmed by the carmaker.
The powered wagon comes with fully adaptive dampers, larger stabilizer bars and Eibach springs for a more comfortable experience. On top of this, the B3 Touring also offers a new Comfort+ drive mode, along with the standard Sport and Comfort modes.
To enhance the overall confidence on the road, the wagon is equipped with 395 mm front disc brakes with four-piston calipers, and 345 mm rear discs with floating single-piston calipers. Moreover, a set of 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels and a discreet aero kit with front and rear spoilers are also provided. The trunk capacity with the rear seats measures as 500 litres which is expandable to 1510 litres.
Inside the cabin, the B3 Touring specs sheet include the following upgraded appointments:
- Unique displays in the digital instrument cluster
- Lavalina leather upholstery
- CNC-machined shift paddles fitted to a hand-stitched leather steering wheel
- Bespoke steering wheel
- Bespoke interior stitching, piping, embroidery, and embossing
About the B3 Touring price, nothing has been disclosed by the automaker yet. Stay tuned to Zigwheels Australia for further insights.
