Ford Endura Review 2024
Ford Endura, sold under the Edge nameplate in other markets globally, received a facelift in 2018. In its current generation for four years, the SUV, as per company claims, surpasses the outgoing model in terms of technology which makes it more advanced. Even though Endura stands 4.8 meter long, it remains a five-seater, missing out on the third row, despite having room for an additional row. Ford could have touted Endura as the replacement model to the seven-seat Territory, however, it chose to introduce it as an all-new car. Just a few months after its roll-out, Endura was recently crash-tested by ANCAP, scoring a perfect 5-star rating in the globally acclaimed test. A five-star rated SUV at launch, it received new safety tech such as seatbelt pre-tensioners for rear seats as part of the update.

Ford Endura Interior & Features
The cabin is built on a 2,849mm long wheelbase, 7mm longer than the ousted seven-seat Territory. Sporting a five-seat layout inside, there is generous space for occupants at front and also at the back. A third row could have been easily fitted, albeit, Ford is keen at keeping it a spacious five-seat model. The large width allows easy ingress and egress into the five-seat cabin. Use of hard plastic is evident at several points inside, though there has been a slight improvement over its predecessor. A large 8-inch touchscreen, inspired by Ford’s seven-seat defunct Territory, is fitted on the dashboard. List of interior features packed inside includes paddle shifters, smart keyless entry with push-button start, dual-zone climate control, illuminated glove box, electrochromic rear vision mirror, cup-holders, etc. as standard. The cargo area offers 602-litres of storage space that could be further expanded. It also gets two cup-holders at front and rear, bottle holder in each door, a big centre console under the armrest and an under-dash storage tray.
Endura Exterior
The Ford Endura appears a superficial look-alike of Mondeo, more like its SUV version. At front, there is a large grille seen in all new-age Ford cars and a carefully designed tailgate. The mid-spec ST-Line sports a blacked-out mesh grille and roof rails atop. A panoramic sunroof and 20-inch alloy wheels are specific to the top-spec Titanium variant. Standard equipment on the outside include LED headlamps with auto levelling, LED-tail-lamps with amber turn lamps, auto on-off and auto high, LED fog lamps and daytime running lights, rear fog lamps, and cornering lights, rain-sensing wipers, front and rear skid plates, and an 18-inch mini spare wheel, etc. The range-topping Titanium variant sports adaptive Bi-LED headlamps with glare-free function, chrome finish headlamp bezel, and 20-inch ultra-bright finish alloy wheels. Talking of dimensions, this 4.8m long has a width of 2.2m (with wing mirrors) and stands at 1.7m of height.
Ford Endura Ride & Handling
The ride quality is comfortable in all variants, though, the mid-spec ST-Line trim gets a firmer sports suspension. Despite measuring 4.8m long, it handles quite well in all four corners. Lastly, the steering wheel is excellent, well-balanced in terms of weight. It functions well in car parking areas as well as three-point turns.
Endura Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Ford Endura carline is powered by a single 2.0-litre, turbo diesel engine with 140 kW of power at 3,500 rpm against 400 Nm torque between 2,000 to 3,000 rpm. An eight-speed automatic transmission is linked to the turbo diesel engine that sends power to the front wheels, with an option of an all-wheel-drive system. In terms of mileage, the diesel engine returns a combined fuel economy of 6.7l/100km.
Ford Endura Braking & Safety
The standard safety kit includes 7 airbags, adaptive cruise control with auto speed limited device, pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, evasive steer assist, lane-keeping system, traffic sign recognition and intelligent speed assist, advance trac with roll stability, ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution, traction control and post-collision braking, rear-view camera with washer, hill start assist, etc. Other tech such as blind-spot detection with cross-traffic alert, enhanced active park assist are available only with the top-spec variant in the carline.
Endura Verdict
The spacious five-seat SUV has oodles of space for the front and rear occupants and it is packed to the gill with comfort, connectivity, and safety features. The long warranty and low servicing cost is another plus to its long list of pros.
