I love the X1! I have owned the previous version and was absolutely in love with the way the drove. The only problem was that it looked like a wagon. I got the new X1 recently and it's a mixed bag for me. It is dynamically inferior to the old one since it is front-wheel drive vs the older one which was a rear-wheel drive. Leaving that aside, it is better in every way! You get more space, a bigger boot, more luxurious interiors and it looks like an SUV now. If you get it in black then it looks bigger than it actually is.
