Renault Australia opens reservation for limited-edition R.S. Trophy range
The all-new limited edition Megane R.S. Trophy and Trophy-R can now be reserved on Renault Australia official website. The company has started accepting bookings for both the models, which are limited to specific units. Only 100 and 20 units of Megane R.S. Trophy and Trophy-R are available for reservation, respectively.
Anouk Poelmann, managing director of Renault Australia said, “I encourage anyone interested in purchasing a Megane RS Trophy-R to register their interest”.
The R.S. Trophy is due to arrive in Australia by the end of 2019, whereas the Trophy-R trim is due in early next year. Both the coasters house the same 1.8-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine that churns out a maximum power of 300 PS and a peak torque of 420 Nm. The power is transferred to the wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The Trophy-R weighs 130-kg less than the standard Trophy model. The weight reduction is achieved by the removal of rear seats, lightweight alloy wheels, polycarbonate rear window, carbon fibre bonnet, and an Akrapovic titanium exhaust.
Furthermore, the Trophy-R is limited to a simple Pearl White outfit colour. The hyper-hatch gets a modified CUP chassis, Sabelt monocoque seats, carbon fibre rear diffuser, and Ohlins adjustable dampers as a part of the transformation. Besides the Trophy and Trophy-R nameplates, Renault Australia is also registering interests for the Trophy-R Record version, which is limited to only 1 unit and will be sold via an auction. This car has all the major components of Trophy-R. However, the two key highlights that separate it from the other two variants are 19-inch carbon fibre wheels and ceramic-carbon blend front brakes.
The company hasn’t announced the pricing details yet, but the website mentions “Approx. $70k drive away” for the Trophy-R and “$55-60k drive away” for the standard Trophy. Both the models can be reserved by paying a $1000 reservation fee, while there is no fee for the registration of interest for the Trophy-R Record edition.
