Nissan Leaf EV announced for the Australian market
New Nissan Leaf electric vehicle’s pricing information has been official and it will hit the Australian market in August. The carmaker has also informed that the interest among the customers for the EV is increasing as the registration crosses the 11,000 marks till date.
It has been almost a year since the EV launched in the overseas market, while the local market will be getting it now. Nissan Leaf EV is equipped with an electric motor at the front axle, which is further powered by a 40kWh battery pack. The motor can make a maximum power of 147.5 hp along with a peak torque of 320 Nm.
As on the WLTP test cycle, the battery claims to offer an overall electric range of 270 Km. The battery is refilled through a 7kW home fast charger, which takes 7.5 hours to charge it fully. While, if one uses a highway-side fast charger the 20% charged battery can be refilled up to 80% in just one hour.
As of now, the new EV will get Nissan's future technology and features a plethora of safety equipment. It comes with Nissan ProPilot semi-autonomous safety features’ full suite that includes a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, Autonomous emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring.
The coaster will also get privacy glass, LED headlights, power-folding mirrors, dusk-sensing headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, push-button start, auto-dimming mirrors, and rain-sensing wipers. Inside the cabin, the car features heated front and rear seats and a heated steering wheel. It is the first time, the car gets Nissan infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity in the local market.
New Nissan Leaf electric vehicle has a base price tag of $49,990 excluding on-road costs. It is available in six colour options, white with a black roof, white, black, red, gunmetal and platinum.
