New CEO for Hyundai Australia
Hyundai Australia has replaced JW Lee from the post of Chief Executive Officer recently. Lee was holding the position for around three years. And now he will be handling a new role in the international market segment at the brand’s headquarters in Seoul, Korea.
The firm regularly faced a decline in the total sales in the region since his appointment. If we look at the actual figures, we can see the need for this change. In 2016, the brand was able to manage the sales figure of 101,555, which declined to 97,013 in 2017 and further fall to 94,187 in 2018.
So far, the units sold in the current year stands around 73,944 which is almost 8.2 % less from the same point in the previous year. Not only this, but the firm is also struggling with an 8% overall decline in the market.
Now, the prestigious post will be handled by Jun Heo, who is part of Hyundai since 2000. In this long span of 19 years, Heo has worked in the USA, Mexico, and India. After joining the post, Mr. Heo quoted, "I am proud and honored to join Hyundai Motor Company Australia as Chief Executive Officer. For market share, brand history and the popularity of models across the portfolio, Hyundai Australia is seen as one of our company’s most successful markets globally.''
He further added, “We will continue to play a key role as we develop our organization as part of HMC’s global strategy. I look forward to working with the Australian team as we challenge the market in the future, through a dedication to progress, customer care, and world-beating products."
So, how efficiently the new CEO handles the post and turns the declining sales trend into increasing are all next to be seen. Stay tuned to Zigwheels Australia for further updates on this.
