Lexus records 32% sales growth in August

Lexus Australia has recently disclosed its sales figures and the shown numbers prove that the firm has broken several internal sales records in August. The firm sold 817 vehicles in August and the total count of units sold in the year so far is 6373 units, which depicts a 5.2% increase in the first eight months sales of the previous year.

The company stated the luxury arm’s sales growth is driven by its SUV lineup, which showed a rise of 58.6% for the previous month. Mid-sized NX super headed the numbers and recorded the sales of 368 units, increased by 39.9% and this is 59 units higher than the earlier record set of August 2016. The company officials further say the NX's healthy boost in sales was "supported" by running technology changes implemented in June, along with the limited-edition NX Crafted announced in July.

Apart from NX, the entry-level crossover UX also recorded good sales number for the firm with monthly sales of 145 units and Year to Date sales of 1273 units. The flagship model Lexus LX 4x4 begged 31 sales count in August which is best as compared to the same month sales of 2017. Though, the sales of the RX range have dropped by 8.5% before the arrival of its facelifted model next month.

The sales numbers of other models of the range as of August 2018 include ES large sedan with sales of 41 units, LS and RC with same sales figures, the CT hybrid hatch recorded 9 registrations with 71.9% fall, the IS sold 59 units with fall of 36.6%, the GS down by 71.4% with 2 units and the flagship coupe LS saw drop of 63.6% with only 4 units. Scott Thompson, CEO of Lexus Australia stated, "Strong interest from customers in Lexus is facilitating high growth, and the arrival of the new RX and ES F Sport will continue to place the luxury lifestyle brand on target for a record year”.

On the other hand, the sales charts of other automakers show contrasting results. BMW recorded a slight increase of 5.7% for the month with a drop of 2.1 YTD. Audi has shown a monthly surge of 27.9% but still has 27.8% less YTD. Mercedes-Benz was also down by 8.3% for August and 8.9% for YTD. Land Rover recorded down of 8.6 monthly and YTD sales,  whereas Volvo has slightly increased to 0.4% monthly with a 19.7% rise in YTD. Alfa Romeo dropped by 31.7% for the month and 33.1% for YTD and Jaguar shown a 1% increase in both monthly and YTD figures.
